Teen Statistics at the Present Rate

• 50% of teens are sexually active:
• 720 teens will contract an STD every 2 hours
• 1 million teens will become pregnant before they reach
  college age
• 340,000 teens will have abortions every year
• 50% of teens will be exposed to pornography

40% of teens inflict self-injury

• 960 teens will inflict self-injury every 2 hours

Teen Drug and Alcohol Use

• 25% of teens use illegal drugs
• 33% of teens have been drunk in the last month
• 3770 High School Seniors will drink alcohol every 2 hours

25% of teens are victims of abuse

• 178 teens will be abused or neglercted every 2 hours
• Of the victims, 1/10 are raped
• 75% of rape victims require medical attention
• 16% of rapes are reported to police

Suicide is the 3^RD leading cause of death
among teens

• 1500 teens commit suicide each year - that’s 1 teen suicide
  every 6 hours.
